How to Connect to Slipstream Radio

If the first link on the front page of Slipstream Harbour didn't immediately hook you up to my Internet Radio Station, then the following instructions below should be able to set you up for either iTunes, Quicktime Player or RealPlayer. Windows users can follow the same instructions on their machines. Give it a try.

iTunes

First, if you haven't done so yet, get a copy of iTunes here. then follow the instructions below.

1. Open iTunes and click the "Advanced" menu
2. Choose the "Open Stream" item

3. A URL entry box will appear
4. Enter the address: http://218.117.183.185:8000/listen.m3u

5. Click the "OK button"
6. Slipstream Radio should immediately appear in your iTunes browser list. If you keep it there, you can just double click it next time to access Slipstream Radio.

RealOne Player

I normally recommend iTunes over RealPlayer as I believe it to have many advantages, not the least of which is that it doesn't install spyware like Real does on Windows machines. But if you insist on using Real, access instructions are below.

For RealPlayer you can connect on the MacOSX platform using the free player available on their site. If you don't have it yet go here.

Install and open RealPlayer and look under the "File" menu for "Open Location". In the field that appears enter the address "http://slipstreamharbour.com/SHRadio.ram" (no quotes) and click "Open". You should then get Slipstream Radio right after the buffer loads. Add the station to your favourites and you can access it more easily from there.

QuickTime Player

Access is similar for the QuickTime Player except that the first menu item is under the "File" menu and is called "Open URL in new player". Enter the url below and enjoy the music.

http://218.117.183.185:8000/listen.m3u

If you don't have QuickTime yet you can download it here. iTunes you can get here. Installing iTunes will automatically install QuickTime on your Windows machine, if it isn't there yet already. On any Mac sold today iTunes and QuickTime are installed from the factory.

My Japanese friends should download iTunes here, and QuickTime here.

The "SHRadio.pls" file

If you clicked the direct access links from the Slipstream On The Air block on SH's front page, you will be left with a file on your desktop called "SHRadio.pls", or "SHRadio.ram", depending on which link you cllicked. Anytime after your player starts playing Slipstream Radio you can throw that file away.

If you have your system set so that it does not automatically open downloaded files the SHradio.pls file may need to be double clicked before it will start playing. Or you can drag the SHRadio.pls file directly into your iTunes main Library window and it will create an entry for Slipstream Radio. If you drag it into the window while iTunes isn't playing, the entry will be named "http://218.117.183.185:8000/listen.m3u". Once you double-click on it, the name will change to Slipstream Radio).

Thereafter you can just double-click that new entry in your iTunes library to listen to Slipstream Radio again.
